My name is Ruby Mullins-Keating and I was introduced to the magic of Horses of Hope Oregon’s therapeutic riding program in 2022 when I began as an instructor. I had know about the healing power of equines since I was 5 years old riding mules in beaten up half chaps but I could never imagine that horses and healing would become my life. I have ridden many disciplines ranging from natural horsemanship to a competitive hunter jumper showing around the country. When I landed at Equine assisted therapy I knew my search was over. There is a unique ability that horses have to aid in solace, an un-biased understanding that they carry weightlessly. I lost my mother to stage 4 colon cancer in 2023 and it opened my eyes to a world of grief and unimaginable pain. There are some challenges in this world that you can never prepare for. The healing of horses taught me patience and strength. Watching people grow alongside their equine partner is a feeling unlike anything else. The smiles reflected back from the eyes of a horse are unbeatable. I am so excited to continue on this journey of unbridled health healing and happiness alongside you and our unmatchable equine team.
